Young Women’s Time (black ink on papper / 2009 ) is a series by Korean-american artist Kim Dak-Ho. He makes reference to Girl’s Generation (소녀시대), a nine-member South Korean girl group formed by SM Entertainment in 2007. Its members are: Yoona, Tiffany, Yuri, Hyoyeon, Sooyoung, Seohyun, Taeyeon (leader), Jessica, and Sunny.
In the artist’s words: “Young Women’s Time is a critic and a tribute at the same time and in the same proportion. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big SNSD fan myself. This series of faceless girls points out to the girl gruop boom that Korea is living. Girls have more and more exigences, they feel they need to be perfect, and with that feeling comes a big social change. Korea is the number one countrie when it commes to plastic surgery, girls feel they need to look like girls generation, they feel thay need to live they’re young women’s time…”
